ROAD TO NOWHERE

Rams Continue to Struggle On the Road
By James T. Ingram for OhhMyOnline.net

OK. All of the post-mortem analysis, statistical dissection and Monday morning quarterbacking is irrelevant when it comes to explaining the Rams road loss to a mediocre SF 49ers team.

Forget the fact that the last time that the Rams won a road game (in the NFC) was 3 years ago. The Rams team, this year, is a much more talented, hard-working bunch than in the previous 3 seasons.

The problem with this Rams team is that they lack, as Rams QB Sam Bradford so aptly put it, a “killer instinct”.

Losing 20-23 in OT after blowing the lead and allowing SF to regroup on a third down and 32 yard situation, followed by a fourth and 18, then giving up the first down, was inexcusable.

That, my friends was the game.

And I’m not saying that the Rams didn’t hustle. They did.

Sure there was some bad officiating, from the referees standpoint.

However, the Rams have got to find a way, on the road, to at least take some of the more winnable games (like this one).

And that takes have a “killer instinct” and finding a way to put their less talented opponents out of their misery, rather than allowing them to stick around long enough to win by default.
