ALL CHOKED-UP

Rams Continue Road Losses with Tampa Bay
by James T. Ingram for OhhMyOnline.net

Everything pointed to a Rams win Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers…. until the last 10 seconds of the game.

Then the Rams road curse kicked in, erasing what would have been their first victory away from the friendly confines of the Edward Jones Dome.

The Rams had a 17-3 lead, dominating the lowly Bucs and limiting their only scoring to field goals. Steven Jackson and Danny Amendola scored TD’s for the Rams; with Jackson gaining 110 yards on 22 carries to become the Rams all-time rusher, surpassing Eric Dickerson.

But after half time, the Rams failed to perform offensively and the defense ran out of gas, allowing a Cadillac Williams TD, in the closing seconds, for a comeback victory over a sluggish Rams team 17-18.

QB Sam Bradford also struggled in the passing department and there was a noticeable lack of creativity on the part of the offense the entire second half.

The game was one that the Rams should have won. No excuses. They just simply choked and allowed it to slip away.

The question is what will it take for this young Rams team to learn how to finish an opponent, on the road, when the game is within their grasp.

Next week the Rams return home to face the Carolina Panthers as well as retire Isaac Bruce’s jersey.

The following week will be a much need bye week, giving the battered Rams time to mend from their injury-plagued season.
