The Rams opener got off to a good start with Rams RB, Steven Jackson rumbling for a 47-yard TD on the first play from scrimmage. But that proved to be the end of the highlight reel for the Rams.
Jackson tweaked his quad on the carry, and by halftime it was pretty much a rap. The injury bug continued, with WR Danny Amendola going out, possibly for the rest of the season, with a dislocated elbow and QB Sam Bradford was forced out after slamming his index finger into the helmet of an Eagle defender.
The rest was clinic conducted by the Eagles, with QB Michael Vick running wild for for 98 yards, Eagle WR DeSean Jackson making six catches for 102 yards and RB LeSean McCoy rushing for 122 yards.
All in all, the Eagles racked up 404 total yards of offense while the stunned Rams and fans looked on in disbelief.
Chalk this loss up to a plethora of Rams mistakes, from 5 dropped balls by Rams receivers, “fundamental” mistakes to quote Coach Spagnuolo, and poor pass protection for Bradford, causing him to never get into a rhythm with his offense.
The end result was an ugly 31-13 loss as the Eagles threw and ran for touchdown after unanswered touchdown as the Rams stood helplessly by.
The good news is that it’s only the first game of the season and, hopefully, the Rams can adjust regroup and retool for the remaining 15 games.
