FIRST PLACE RAMS?

Turning the Edward Jones Dome into the “Terror Dome"

Go back and check any pre-season blogs, predictions or forecasts regarding the St. Louis Rams and not one predicted what we’re witnessing.

One month into the NFL season and the St. Louis Rams are tied for first place in the NFC West. And no, that’s not a typo.

In fact the Rams are on a (dare I say it) streak. Following a 30-16 defeat of the Redskins, followed by Sunday’s home victory against Seattle by an equally impressive score of 20-3, the Rams have gone from pushovers to contenders.

They may even be turning the Edward Jones Dome into the “terror dome”, given the new-found excitement and energy of Rams home fans.

The effort against the Seahawks was impressive on both sides of the ball, with the Rams stingy defensive only allowing a single field goal for the entire 60 minutes of play.

On offensive, Sam Bradford seems to mature weekly and displays the composure of a veteran QB.

His targets of choice in the Seattle slaughter were receivers Brandon Gibson and Mark Clayton, with Danny Amendola even getting into the act with a heart-stopping one-handed grab.

Steven Jackson, despite a sore groin rushed for enough yards to become the number 2 all-time running back for the Rams, inching just ahead of Marshall Faulk and will, more than likely, surpass all-time Rams rusher Eric Dickerson before the end of the season.

With a beatable (and winless) Detroit Lions team on tap as their next opponent, the Rams could extend their resurgence with a road win next week.
