Bradford Gets First Win as NFL QB
By James T. Ingram for OhhmyOnline.net
Finally, after nearly two years of consecutive home losses, the Rams actually made it a pleasure for fans (and us writers) to watch them play football.
To be precise, the last Rams home win was a 34-14 win over the Dallas Cowboys on October 19, 2008. George W. Bush was President and Marc Bulger was the Rams QB.
It had been so long that some media types had almost forgotten how to ask questions about winning. So much for ancient history.
Sunday was a different story. The first quarter was all Rams with a 42-yard breakaway TD run by Steven Jackson, a rollout and 3-yard TD pass from Sam Bradford to TE Daniel Fells and a blocked punt by the Rams.
The Redskin, however, left the Rams clinging to a one-point lead, 14-13 at halftime and even momentarily gained the lead, 16-14, after a field goal on their opening drive of the second half.
However, the Rams were left to deal, for the balance of the game, with the loss of Steven Jackson to injuries suffered in the second quarter.
But despite the loss of Jackson, the Rams rebounded in the third quarter, on a 12-yard TD run by Kenneth Darby and later added 37 and 27 yard field goals to finish off the Redskins 30-16.
Next, their division rival Seattle Seahawks visit the Edward Jones Dome to battle the victorious (and injured) Rams in a noon contest.
The Rams hope to take that momentum and their new-found winning ways into that contest.
