HOLT AND PACE RELEASED
“Greatest Show on Turf” a Distant Memory
Last week, some of the last pieces of the Rams “Greatest Show on Turf” era ended their careers with the St. Louis Rams.
Pro Bowl tackle Orlando Pace, then wide receiver Torry Holt, were both released to free up big salary cap dollars in the rebuilding process for the Rams franchise.
Their age (Pace , 33 and Holt 32) combined with their salaries, sort of made this decision a no-brainer; but they’ll be sorely missed.
During the Rams’ Super Bowl runs no one opened a hole (for RB Marshall Faulk) or picked up a blitz (for QB Kurt Warner) better than Orlando Pace.
And, with the exception of former Ram, Isaac Bruce, no one ran more precise routes than WR Torry Holt.
Not to worry. These veterans still have some life left in their careers and neither will be on the market long before some lucky teams snap them up.
St. Louis owes these gentlemen a debt of thanks for providing hours of exciting and entertaining football to St. Louis fans after years lackluster football.
Let the rebuilding start!
